Christmas is almost here, it’s less than a month away! Now is the time to start thinking about how to dress up your hearth. There are plenty of things that you can do to transform your home into a magical Christmas wonderland. To help you to have the most incredible hearth and mantlepiece this year, we’re going to share a few of our fantastic festive ideas with you, so read on and take notes!
Hang the Stockings!
There’s nothing more classical than hanging your stockings above the fireplace – plus you never know, Father Christmas might fill them with something that you’ve always wanted. Just make sure the stockings aren’t dangling in the fire (if you have a live fire anyway!) this could be disastrous! Green and red are the colours of the season, so we’d certainly recommend that you buy – or make – red stockings.
Mini Trees!
Get extra Christmassy by adding a forest of mini trees to your hearth, you could have a line of them and surround them with beautiful, sparkling tinsel. These trees can be real or fake, that really is up to you – but remember to take care of them if they’re real; there’s nothing festive about dead or dying plants! For an added sparkle add a touch of glitter! Snow globes look wonderful as well when decorating you
Bauble Bliss!
A quick, simple and quick way to decorate your fireplace’s surroundings is with baubles! For a contemporary and controlled effect place them in a large vase – if possible surround with gorgeous fairy lights; the reflective qualities will look beautiful and sparkle gloriously adding a truly fantastic festive atmosphere to your home.
Christmas Garden!
Keep things natural and create a mini Christmas garden on top of your mantelpiece; all you need are a few pinecones, mistletoe and festive flowers such as pretty poinsettias; this will not only complete the Christmas aesthetic but will also make your home feel wonderfully fresh. To balance the look add a couple of candles to either end – however, remember to keep an eye on them and don’t place them too close to the plants.
Glitter Glamour!
Glitter is a fantastic way to add a touch of glamour and fun to your interior decor at Christmas time, but beware it can get messy so have the vacuum cleaner at the ready. So to create the glamorous glittery aesthetic, simply sprinkle glitter across your mantel piece and place a few Christmas figurines or ornaments with it – fairies and angels look gorgeous here!
